“When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea-billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know, It is well, it is well with my soul" (A & M, Suppl. 40 v. 1) We received with heavy heart the passing on of one of the founding members of the Anglican University College of Technology (ANG.U.TECH), Professor Emeritus Ebenezer Laing. He played a central role in the establishment of ANG.U.TECH. He served as a member of the Central Implementation Committee (CIC), a committee set up by the Anglican Communion of Ghana to see to the establishment of the University College from January 2006 until August, 2014 when the CIC was dissolved and the University Council was inaugurated. He also served on the Academic Sub-Committee of the CIC. He was actively involved in the recruitment of lecturers for the institution and also contributed immensely in all processes leading to the accreditation and affiliation of the University College. He carried out his work selflessly and made a number of donations to assist the work of the University College. Our consolation is that he was alive when the first batch of students was admitted and lectures began at the Nkoranza Campus in October 2013. After the dissolution of the CIC, he did not forget about the University College. He donated an amount given to him in appreciation for his long service to the University College, to Management to use as seed money to establish what he called ‘eleemosynary fund to support needy students.
