Twuminkst, otsi d3n? Oye, na mmoframa no nso 3? Oye, wo Mama so 3? Oye, na Mr. Brookman-Amissah so 3? Oye , Yorkor na Egyir nso ? Oye , na mmoframa no, wore practice piano na? At this point I would usually be in stitches because, he would have done all the responding to the questions he was asking me. Of course, Oye Uncle Yosi, I enjoyed every bit of time spent with you and I am very grateful. I was lucky to be in Legon for my first degree and boy did I have a blast. Even if I was broke or too lazy to make my own food, all it took was finding you. It had almost become a ritual. You would walk with me or drive me to either the Legon Hall or Commonwealth Hall Senior Common room and treat me to lunch or at the very least a snack. The interesting part of it was this: that even if there were six of us walking together, Uncle Yosi would insist that all of us got the treat. I don't know if I told you but I enjoyed too many freebies because I was your niece. Conversations on campus were always in my favour as soon as I mentioned my name. "My name is Justina Laing", I would say...and that was usually the end. "Oh, I see, you must be Prof. Laing's daughter" and then they would always add, "Or which of the Laings are you?" At this point, who would deny being your daughter? I never said I was but would never say I wasn't....your guess is as good as mine, at that point, even my friends were in heaven. We got bigger portions of everything and jumped the queue a few times. Your birthday last year was loads of fun for us and the kids. It was beautiful how as we sang for you and as my son S.B.F played for you, you sat behind your piano and played as well, one of the few renditions of the happy birthday song that still echoes in my mind. I can still remember the last hug I gave you after which you tried to break our little rule of "no thank yous". Uncle Yosi paaa, my kids found a selfless grandpa and music teacher in you, my hubby found a mentor in you, with you there were many many many reasons to keep a smile or laugh out soo loud. I always wondered why you felt responsible for saying thank you when I had many reasons to show gratitude. My next hug was not to be....by the time we could get there, you lay lifeless. You managed to leave us with a smile though, your nurse tells us you waved at him and said " bye-bye!" Bye-bye Uncle Yosi, Oye! You did what many didn't do, I get the last laugh though... I am privileged to say......Thank You for plenty love, plenty laughter and of course for who you were to me. Love you loads....xxx Twummwaa Laing
